Round the Ground is an Australian radio show and blog dedicated to our regional music communities.

Each episode, I dive deep into the scene of a different town or city, and exclusively play artists from that area, whether they’re household names or just starting to build a following. Often, I’ll also interview a musician to be a tour guide for their hometown.

Tune in

While I’m on exchange from Oct. 2025 to Jan. 2026, Round the Ground will be broadcast on Cardiff University’s student station Xpress Radio, Thursdays at 4:00pm GMT. Expect to see some occasional Cardiff music reviews and features too!

Before this, Round the Ground was broadcast on the University of Wollongong’s student station, RadioU. I’ll be returning to Australia in the new year!

The intro music for Round the Ground is “Grange” by Hockey Dad.

About me

Heya, I’m Marcus. I’m a communication and media student at the University of Wollongong, majoring in journalism. In my second year I discovered my passion for radio by news reading, and now I research music scenes, curate playlists, produce, and present Round the Ground by myself.

I love Australian music and spotlighting talent particularly from regional areas. I truly believe we have the strongest local music scene in the world! In the future, I’d love to work within triple j Unearthed.

You can email me at roundtheground.au @ gmail . com. I appreciate all correspondence, including media releases.

Please keep two things in mind: Round the Ground is first and foremost a radio show, and I don’t typically promote music on social media, unless it’s part of a new playlist I share. Secondly, this is a one-man operation, so sorry that I can’t respond to all your messages.
