Radio work

Round the Ground

An Australian music radio show and my main passion project. Each episode, I dive into the scene of a different region, and exclusively play artists from that area, whether they’re household names or just starting to build a following. Often, I’ll also interview a musician to be a tour guide for their hometown.

I do all the playlisting, interviewing, panel operating, hosting, editing, and publishing for Round the Ground. It has been broadcast on the University of Wollongong student station RadioU, and the award-winning Cardiff University station Xpress Radio.

I’ve hosted three seasons of Round the Ground. You can listen back to any episode via from the top of this website, but here’s two of my favourite episodes.

One of my favourite episodes of RTG. I’m especially proud of the interview package I put together.
The second episode of RTG I hosted from Cardiff University.

ABC Illawarra 97.3

As an intern at ABC Local Radio, I mainly co-produced the Mornings program, and assisted to find stories and contact talent. Occasionally I would read news on the half-hour. I also produced my own self-contained packages, including a feature on local bookshop and live music space Society City.

News and feature writing

I have written several news stories and features that have been published on the University of Wollongong’s news website, UOWTV.

Feature I wrote about the ongoing crisis of music venues closing around Australia, where I interviewed musicians and venue owners.
Feature I wrote about the control of Yours and Owls in the Wollongong music scene, where I interviewed several musicians and bands, some under anonymity, about their experiences with the company.

I also have experience in TV news, producing content for UOWTV on YouTube and social media pages.

In a one-day task, I solely edited this bulletin, and wrote, filmed, and presented the lead story about a rally for Palestine at the university.
I also entirely produced this package, from conducting interviews to writing.

During my exchange at Cardiff University, I was a contributor to the arts column in student newspaper Gair Rhydd, established in 1972.

Writing about the Cardiff return of indie rock legends Los Campesinos!, including an interview. (Read issue 1212 or online.)
Review for Stella Donnelly’s album Love and Fortune. (Read issue 1214 or online.)

Independent of class work, I have written many album reviews and some gig reviews for Round the Ground, which you can explore with the tabs at the top of this website. Here are a couple of my favourites.

Video work

Passion projects

I’ve been writing, filming, and editing videos for Youtube since I was in primary school. While my earliest filmmaking endeavours have been scrubbed off the internet, here are some examples of my most recent work.

Professional work

In high school I was entrusted by staff to write, film, and edit numerous videos, mostly promoting student council campaigns, for internal use and sometimes publication on school social media channels. View a selection here.

I was also occasionally given control of my high school Instagram and Facebook accounts, creating live story content for special events like the annual Year 12 AFL match, and sustainability conference.

During my time as social media manager of the non-profit Illawarra Film Society, I also produced content like season trailers and vertical ads for Instagram and TikTok.
